What Happens to Your Account the Day Turo Closes It
Tickets and tolls: 90 days to file after your last trip ends. Fuel, charging, distance, and cleaning: 72 hours. Those two numbers are the entire reimbursement clock once your account closure date is set, and they don't pause for anything.
Full mechanics: Turo's Help Center article on Turo-initiated account closures, governed by Turo's Terms of Service.
What happens to your calendar the moment closure starts
Your vehicles come out of search results immediately, and guests can no longer modify existing bookings. In-progress trips run to completion. Trips starting within the next 72 hours also go ahead as scheduled. Everything booked further out than 72 hours gets canceled outright, and you are paid nothing on those canceled trips. If you have a full calendar and a closure is coming, that 72-hour line is the number that actually matters for your income, not the 30-day notice window.
The two-speed reimbursement clock
Ticket and toll reimbursements get a comparatively generous 90 days from your last trip's end date. Fuel, charging, distance, and cleaning charges get 72 hours, the same tight window as the trip-cancellation cutoff above. If you're anticipating a closure for any reason, submit every pending fuel and cleaning reimbursement now; that window closes fast and doesn't extend for anyone.
Getting paid and getting your paperwork
Every dollar owed goes out via direct deposit to your linked bank account, same as always. Turo emails trip earnings by vehicle and a tax summary for each year you hosted, with the current year's summary following the standard January 31 timing used for all tax documents. Download your trip earnings CSV from the Earnings page before the account closes; it's a two-minute task now and a much harder one to request after the fact.
One detail that surprises hosts who also rent
A closed host account also loses the ability to book trips as a guest on Turo. If you use your own host account to rent vehicles personally, whether for travel or to try a competitor's listing, that access ends the same day your hosting account closes. It's a detail that rarely comes up until someone's already planning a personal trip and discovers the account they'd normally book with no longer works for that either.
Build this into your actual offboarding checklist
Whether you're closing an account voluntarily or facing one Turo initiated, download your earnings CSV and file any pending reimbursements in the same sitting where you first learn a closure date is set, not later.
